Understanding the brief
Amazon wanted to give colleagues from the Manchester office an opportunity to catch up with each other as well as meet new team members who may have joined the business in the last two years since people began more flexible working.
It was also really important to encourage people to get outside, re-energise and connect after a busy week with Amazon Prime Day.
All of this needed to be achieved through physical, mental, and creative challenges that encouraged team working with a competitive edge as they competed to be crowned Man11 United winners.
The Solution
We wanted to create a day that brought over 300 people together to a Manchester location to take part in different activities, working together in teams to overcome different challenges.
We asked everyone to register their interest and then we set about mixing up departments into different teams.
As a team they would be taking part in 3 different challenges winning points for their team:
Physical
Retro Sports Day – teams went head-to-head to compete to win different traditional sports day activities such as egg and spoon, sack race, tug of war and 3-legged race.
Mental
Diamond Heist – teams competed against each other to crack the codes to unlock the boxes to retrieve the diamond first.
Creative
Pottery painting – This tent was a more relaxed environment where attendees who are not on a team can also drop in and take a mental respite from the day, chat and connect with colleagues.
After these activities everyone came together for some food, drink, and entertainment. Leaving the day energised, motivated and excited to take their new connections back to the office.
